A ready made first level management induction programme.
The package is an embossed A5 organiser with 26 self-study chapters
on good management habits. A pen, calculator and notepad are part of the
package, making sure your new manager is ready to work.
Each chapter has:
- two pages of practical hints and tips, giving the new manager a solid introduction to the subject
- space for notes
- 5 suggested questions to discuss with their line manager leading to
- the FROG action plan encouraging them to go and do something with what they have learned
- the 26th chapter helps them and their manager score their competence
The line manager’s companion guide is an A4 booklet with
- an explanation of how the programme works and their responsibilities
- a copy of each chapter’s practical hints and tips and suggested answers to the questions
- a planning grid which helps the line manager keep note of progress on a number of managers at any one time
The whole process is to assist line managers (many of whom may be inexperienced themselves) to develop their new team leads.
- The line manager gives Your Turn to each new manager as they take on the role, explaining that this is their
management induction programme to help them through the challenges of the first 6 months.
- They explain the format of the learning, and agree when they will sit down together to review each subject.
It only expects the line manager to give ˝ hour a week to do this.
- Each week the new manager takes 5 – 10 minutes to read the chapter and then focuses on that subject during their
normal weekly work, making notes as they go.
- At the end of the week they sit down with their manager going through the 5 suggested questions.
- The line manager has the answers in their guide in case they are not sure what to say but can enlarge on them
to match the specifics of your business.
- In the 26th week both the new manager and the line manager rate progress against a number of competencies.
This helps them decide whether management is the right place for this person, and if it is, signposts them on to
further projects and training.
We are in the business or helping you develop excellent management in your company. There are a number of ways we
